On January 28, at 5:30 p.m., our very own Attorney Matthew Lax will be moderating a panel on domestic violence in Encino, California. The panel, entitled Domestic Violence: What You Need to Know, will focus on California's laws relating to domestic violence, as well as how to prevent a reoccurrence, making child custody determinations, as well as how to determine when supervised visitation is appropriate. It will also focus on giving tips for how to defend and prosecute cases involving restraining orders.
Mr. Lax will work on the panel with Commissioner Steff Padilla and Deborah Kelly of the DASH office in this panel; it will be his responsibility to get the thoughts of the other panel members on what they want legal counsel to do in any given domestic violence case – especially to expand on what does and does not work in these complex cases. The Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program is scheduled to last for an hour that evening and will be provided by the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.
As a graduate of California State University, Northridge and Whittier Law School, Mr. Lax is well-known throughout the San Fernando Valley as an effective and creative legal advocate on behalf of his client's rights.
